THE BEGINNING
It was ordained on the calendar of God for Shawn Gethers to be born on January 8, 1973, to the late William Gethers and the late Mother Frances Gethers. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ Gethers, knew from a young age that he was different and that the hand of Almighty God was on his life. The Lord spoke to his mother when he was a day or two old and said I am going to use your baby in many ways. That word of the Lord has and still is coming to pass over and over again. He has always had a great hunger for the word of God while reaching out for Christian Education attending T.E.T Christian Academy, Cornerstone Bible School, and Universal Bible Education.
THE PRODIGY
Gethers grew up as a member of Macedonia Redeemed Pentecostal Church, under the leadership of his Godfather the late Bishop Jesse Lewis Sr. As a young child at the age of 3 and 4 he would come home after church and preach the message his Godfather ministered. At the age of seven, he spoke his first message at church on a Sunday evening taken from John 3, "Ye Must Be Born Again".
Since the age of twelve, he has been trained and mentored in ministry by his mother in the Lord Prophet/Pastor Shirley A. Nelson, and his sister the late Asst. Pastor Gail M. Gethers. There are a few others as well whom God used to mentor and help groom Gethers along the way.
His faith walk was birthed out by his spiritual father the Late Dr. Aaron Johnson. Dr. Aaron Johnson known as the Father of Faith taught faith as a champion and should be recognized in the Hall of Faith. He made a successful deposit of FAITH in Gethers life that was so helpful when Gethers stepped out into full-time ministry at 17 years old.
Elder Gethers faithfully serves at his home church in many areas at Maranatha Temple of Praise, Wilmington, NC, where the Senior Pastor is his mentor and spiritual mother Prophet/Pastor Shirley A. Nelson. It is this powerful vessel in the Lord whom God used to redirect, guide, and help bring him to the place of walking into his purpose and destiny. His ministry residency is here at Maranatha Temple of Praise AKA "MTOP".
HIS PURPOSE
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [a]recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
A Voice For Generation Now
Elder Shawn Gethers greatest STRENGTH and MISSION in ministry is to Enlighten, Empower, Equip and Encourage people from all walks of life of the keeping, healing, and delivering POWER of God. He is a daring voice speaking out to "GENERATION NOW" how the POWER of God can keep and deliver you. He carries a mantle of encouragement that is compelling to young and middle-aged men and women to pursue after God. He encourages young men to be the best YOU that they can be as we stand as role models to GENERATION NOW.
Gethers, says "The Greatest Power You Have Is The Power To Choose". It all starts with a decision better known as the "Decision Factor".
He recognizes one of his kingdom assignments is to pull people into a determination of reaching a place of DISCIPLINE which will lead to DELIVERANCE from every habit, addiction, and any stronghold in their life.
Today he shares his testimony of how the delivering power of God has destroyed many things in his life.
The life-changing scriptures for him were and are Romans 8:5-10 (NIV), Romans 12:1-2, Ephesians 4:27 (KJV), and James 4:7.

Elder Gethers has been blessed and honored to minister for and on the same platform with some of the greatest men and women in ministry; Pastor Shirley Caesar, Evangelist Dorothy Norwood, Bishop Noel Jones, and many others. He was featured in Charisma Magazine 1993. July 2012 he was a featured interviewed guest on TCT. February/March 2014 he was featured in the My E Life Magazine.
Over thirty-something years of ministry, he has been blessed to travel to twenty-one states and to Mexico to preach the Gospel. He is the author of three books and presently working on his fourth and fifth book to be released in 2022/2023. He is a recording artist in his own right and has written several songs. He released his first Music and Word Project in Spring 2015. Over the years he has poured into spiritual sons, daughters, and mentees.
He has eight years of pastoral experience and so much more.

To be able to provide an avenue and conclave for youth and young adults alike to be spiritually fit with transparent, anointed, Holy Ghost filled preaching and teaching. Helping them to stir up and recognize their God-given gifts so they can be fully equipped and developed. Elder Gethers, heartbeat is to reach out to youth and young adults between the ages of 15 to 35. By no means is his ministry limited to just this age group.
Shawn D. Gethers Ministries is a MOVEMENT that is stirring up an implosion of DISCIPLINE in the Remnant.
